I recently had the internet set up at my house and after doing some research I finally decided which service would work best for me. I am so glad that I have Satellite Internet Wisconsin so that I can check my email from home. I use my work email to communicate with my co-workers about projects we are working on and meetings that we have to schedule. I keep my work like organized through my email and the calendar that is linked to my account. I use my personal email to keep in touch with friends. I have several friends who live in different states and we all have very busy lives. Email is the easiest way for us to keep in touch with each other. It is so much easier than playing phone tag. Any time we plan for all of my friends to get together, we coordinate everything through email. I do not know how people survived before they had email. My life would be so much more complicated without the convenience of email.

New Years Food Traditions

I did this post last year and though I would share it again with all of you! Happy New Years.

What is everyone’s News Years traditions. I know there is some food out there that brings good luck for the year. This is what I’m making tonight for my family. Cranberry and apple stuffed roasted pork, with a few tweaks to the recipe sence we don’t have an oven at the moment. You can find that recipe here http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/recipe.php?recipeId=2399 And also I am doing Collards with Lentils and Indian Spices but sence I couldn’t find Garam Masala which is a blend of different Indian spices I can use that so I guess I will just make it and use some other kind of spice. The reason I am doing these recipes is because of these good luck tradition

Cooked Greens is a symbol of economic good fortune because it resembles folded money. If you eat a lot of these greens on New Years the greater your wealth in the coming year. Greens include Kale, Cooked Cabbage (sauerkraut), Collard greens, pretty much any green leaf cooked.

Legumes include peas, black-eyed peas, lentils and small beans. This represents coins and are believed to bring financial rewards.

Pork is a symbol of wealth, prosperity and progress because of its rich fat content.

Grapes are antioxidants so they are good for health. You eat 12 grapes one for each stroke of the clock, if a grape is sour or bad then that corresponding month will be the same.

I think I will do blueberries instead of grapes. Thats all I have on hand and its a blizzard here in South Dakota so I think we will be hanging out inside today. Hope you enjoyed this info. I got it from www.wholefoodsmarket.com

Kinsley Marie Atkins

Born December 20th 2011 at 7:18 am. She weighted 7 lbs 1 oz and was 20 1/4′ long!

I was due the 19th and didn’t think she was coming any time soon but at 1:30 Tuesday morning on the 20th I woke up with some contractions. They didn’t hurt too bad but were pretty regular, about every 3-6 min and about 35-45 seconds long. So I hung out and did the dishes and laundry and check some emails. At about 4:30 I called my doctor and she said to wait an hour or two because they weren’t close to a minute long. So I took a shower and then woke up my husband and daughter grace. Made her some cereal and then we took her to my sisters at about 6:30. Well on the way to the hospital (1/2 hour away) my water broke and the contractions started hurting really bad. My husband started driving really fast and put on his flashers. We pulled up to the emergency entrance and he got a wheel chair. A cop parked his truck and we went up to a room. A nurse had me put on my gown and she left well I laid down and told my hubby that I had to push. He went to go get the nurse and the nurse said well lets check you and I was fully dilated and effaced, she said “call the doctor” and then a whole bunch of nurses came in there. They kept telling me not to push and it was impossible not to push. The doctor arrived just in time and about 4 pushes later Kinsley Marie Atkins was born! From when we arrived to when I delivered it was about 20 minutes. It was crazy! We got to leave the next day and now are home for Christmas! She is the best Christmas present ever!

40 Weeks Prego and Due Today!

Today is babies due date! So excited but don’t know when baby is going to come. I feel great, I have had some braxton hicks contractions and a sore back here and there but nothing painful. Currently from last Wednesdays checkup I was at 3 cm and 80% effaced. We would love to have baby before Christmas so we can all be together but you never know when baby wants to come. Maybe even on Christmas. Next appointment is Wednesday and don’t know if I want to do the stripping of membranes (sounds so gross) I didn’t do anything with Grace and she came 3 days before her due date and I had her all natural. My doctor asked if I wanted her to do the membrane stripping thing last week and I said no since I wasn’t even at my due date yet. Well here is a pic of me. I don’t think my belly can get any bigger, lol
